CookieChestBot — Scanner Information

Technical information for site owners, IT teams, and infrastructure reviewers.

What is CookieChestBot?

CookieChestBot is the automated scanner operated by CookieChest. It visits websites to verify that consent management, tag management, and analytics tracking are functioning correctly on behalf of site owners who have signed up to the CookieChest monitoring service.

Who authorises these scans?

CookieChestBot only scans sites whose owners have explicitly signed up to CookieChest and completed an ownership verification step. We do not crawl the web speculatively. If your site is being scanned, someone with access to your site authorised it during onboarding.

What does the scanner do?

The scanner simulates a real browser visit and interacts with the site's consent banner. It records which tracking tags fire before consent, after acceptance, and after rejection. No personal data is collected or stored. Scan results are accessible only to the site owner or their agency.

Scan frequency

Three times per day: early morning, midday, and end of day. Scans are lightweight and complete within a few seconds per site.
